projekt w green roofs: The answer to heavy rain and more…

Extreme weather events such as heavy rain are occurring more and more frequently in Europe and causing significant damage. To counter these climatic changes, the construction of buildings must be designed to be future-proof and adaptable. An essential part of such a solution is green roofs, which are not only ecological but also extremely practical.

projekt w is the only company in the industry to offer not only the extensive 'Light' green roof but also a so-called intensive green roof, which is designed for a maximum load of 2 kN/m² in a water-saturated state.

In contrast to the lighter “Light” green roof, which is supplied with pre-installed plant layers such as sedum mats, the intensive green roof offers a 10 cm high tray for on-site greening. The additional substrate layer allows significantly more rainwater to be stored, which is slowly released into the environment. This delays the discharge of rainwater into the sewer system, significantly reducing the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall events.

Thanks to the robust construction made of galvanized trapezoidal sheet metal and OSB boards, combined with an EPDM membrane as a seal and a protective and storage fleece, our green roofs are particularly durable and resistant to today's extreme weather conditions.

Product description for intensive green roofs:

  • Roof pitch: 1° (approx. 2%)
  • Load-bearing structure: Statically calculated for wind and snow loads in accordance with DIN EN 1991-1-1-4:2010-12
  • Material: Roof construction made of strip-galvanized trapezoidal steel, OSB boards with upstand
  • Sealing: EPDM foil, incl. protective and storage fleece
  • Roof drains: At least two internal roof drains DN70, including emergency overflow
  • Attika: Galvanized steel sheet, visibly powder-coated, height 365 mm
  • Supports: square tube for setting in concrete or with base plate for bolting on, max. height 2800 mm
  • Green roof: max. installation height 100 mm, max. load of 2 kN/m² in water-saturated condition
  • Options: anti-condensation coating, can be walked on for maintenance purposes

In addition, green roofs have a temperature-insulating effect, improve air quality by binding dust and provide a habitat for plants and animals. They are also low-maintenance, durable and easy to care for, making them the ideal choice for environmentally conscious builders.

With projekt w green roofs, climate-friendly construction becomes a reality. They help to increase the adaptability of buildings while providing a sustainable solution to the challenges of the future.
