Be bold with colour – that is the motto behind the bicycle and rubbish bin shelters in the Gereuth residential park in Bamberg. Here, it has been proven that functional facilities not only need to be practical, but can also stand out visually.

A total of 18 lockable waste enclosures were erected as part of this project. These offer generous parking spaces measuring 20 to 30 square metres each, supplemented by additional storage space for prams and e-bikes. The enclosures were specifically designed to offer residents of the four existing apartment buildings and ten newly constructed apartment buildings a reliable, space-saving and attractive solution.

In addition, open bicycle shelters were built near the entrances of each building, which are easily accessible and simple to use thanks to their well-thought-out design.

The structures themselves consist of a robust steel construction with a parapet that is powder-coated in anthracite grey (RAL 7016). A particular highlight is the wall cladding: durable and weather-resistant Trespa panels in a striking carmine red colour were used here. This vibrant red not only gives the enclosures a modern and individual character, but also makes them an eye-catching feature of the entire residential park, even from a distance.

The design is rounded off by the roof design: all enclosures are equipped with a ‘green roof light’. This environmentally friendly solution combines aesthetics and sustainability by helping to improve the microclimate and adding a green touch to the residential park.

This project impressively demonstrates how colourful and innovative waste enclosures not only fulfil a practical necessity, but can also enhance the appearance of a neighbourhood.
